A snapshot of the state of the shipping market right now: 1000 ship lies idle, of which 392 freighters with space to 1.1 million 20-foot containers. 433 newbuilding contracts have been canceled. But it will get worse. Much worse.
Shipping is included in the worst crisis since the 70s. It is only partly a result of the deteriorating global economy. Shipowners have single-handedly created a bubble that sooner raymour and flanigan or later would have failed anyway.
