May 7, 2012 at 18:30, desk an unknown fired shots directly against the offices of Women's Link Worldwide Bogotá. A bullet went through the security window office, just above the head of Mónica Roa, when she was working with two colleagues. The attack made no victim.
In 2006, Mónica Roa and Women's Link Worldwide had commenced an action before the Constitutional Court of Colombia, leading to a change in the law on abortion. The absolute prohibition of abortion was lifted, giving way to a recognition of the right to abortion in three specific circumstances. Since the change of the constitution, the renowned defender is continually threatened; the Ministry of Justice has established safeguards and has a bodyguard. desk Threats include warnings by phone, fax and social networking sites. Offices of Women's Link Worldwide were burgled several times and computers were stolen. No other object has been carried desk during these incidents. More recently, on April 24, 2012, a computer has been stolen.
March 1, 2012, Women's Link Worldwide learned that Ms. Ilva Miriam Hoyos, the Assistant Attorney General for the Rights of Children, Youth and Family, filed a complaint against Mónica desk Roa. To date, the complaint has not been made public and the local prosecutor refused Mónica Roa accesses the file to know what she is accused.
