The journey was broken up by a stop at West Cape Howe cellar door near Mt Barker. We couldn t resist corner our final opportunity to grab one (or two) more cases of red before corner departing this great wine growing region.
The Stirling Ranges is known for its spectacular peaks and it was the highest one we had in our sights, Bluff Knoll. Although the walk is only a walk of 3.5 kilometers, it is steep and unrelenting all the way to the top.
After almost five months of travel through some spectacular places corner this has to be the most impressive corner bushwalk we have done (maybe ever!). The walk was awash with gorgeous wildflowers and wildlife and the views were amazing.
Perched on the top of the bluff and having a snack was breathtaking, although we had to be very conscious of how close the kids got to the edge of the cliff. It is a sheer 50m drop to the jagged rocks below.
The highlight of this short walk is the spectacular man-made viewing platform that encircles the granite tors at the top. It is very impressive and affords uninterrupted 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. Well worth the effort. corner
The rest of day was spent at Albany checking out the Natural Bridge and The Gap. The relentless surf that pounds the coast has carved out these two features corner out of the pink granite that lines the coastline.
